San Juan's primary air travel gateway, Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, is maintaining an impressive streak of increasing passenger volume into 2025, firmly establishing itself as a premier air hub within the Caribbean.
During August, the airport processed 1,186,630 travelers, marking a 4.6% rise compared to the same month in the previous year. This expansion was comprehensive, reflecting contributions from both internal and international travel segments. The cumulative data through August indicates a substantial 5.2% increase in passenger numbers compared to 2024, reaching a total of 9,757,486.
The domestic sector observed a 3.3% increment in August, accommodating over 1.02 million passengers. Concurrently, international arrivals and departures witnessed a notable 13.7% jump, accounting for 163,234 travelers. This strong international showing underscores San Juan's evolving prominence as a transit point for Caribbean and transcontinental journeys. Year-to-date figures reveal an 8.55 million domestic passenger count, a 4% year-over-year improvement, alongside 1.2 million international voyagers, representing a 14.3% rise from the preceding year.
These consistent gains underscore the persistent appetite for air travel to and from Puerto Rico. This ongoing momentum is significantly bolstered by a thriving tourism sector and an ever-improving network of air links with the continental United States and other global destinations.
