Margaritaville to Launch First Honduran All-Inclusive Resort in Roatan
2025-07-29

A significant new hospitality venture is slated to open its doors on the captivating island of Roatan, a hidden gem within the Caribbean. The upcoming Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatan, a collaborative effort between Karisma Hotels and Resorts and the renowned Margaritaville brand, is currently under development with an anticipated grand opening in 2027. This marks a pivotal expansion as it will be the third property under Margaritaville's Island Reserve portfolio and represents the brand's inaugural foray into the Honduran market.

Spanning 8.8 acres and boasting 200 meters of pristine shoreline in Turtling Bay, the resort is meticulously designed to offer 170 exquisitely appointed guest rooms, which include luxurious oceanfront suites and convenient swim-up accommodations. Guests will indulge in an array of culinary delights across various signature dining venues, such as Frank & Lola’s Italian Trattoria, JWB Prime Steakhouse, and The Boathouse Market Dining, complemented by the classic Cheeseburger in Paradise. The all-inclusive experience extends to a selection of Margaritaville’s iconic bars: 5 o’Clock Somewhere, License to Chill, and the LandShark Brewery, which will feature locally crafted beers on a scenic terrace overlooking the sea, a unique offering for the region. Beyond dining, the resort will feature multiple swimming pools, the serene St. Somewhere Spa, a well-equipped Fins Up! Fitness Center, a vibrant Parakeets Kid’s Club, pickleball courts, and expansive meeting facilities. A highlight for couples will be the Sky Wedding venue, providing a breathtaking backdrop for special occasions with panoramic ocean vistas. Furthermore, the Margaritaville Beach Club is set to be a dynamic entertainment hub, capable of hosting up to 800 guests for concerts, music festivals, and large-scale events, complete with a covered stage, VIP cabanas, a splash pad, a main pool, a snack gazebo, and an area dedicated to local businesses and artisan crafts.

This ambitious project is also pioneering a new era for sustainable tourism in the Caribbean, integrating Regenerative Tourism principles to safeguard and enhance Turtling Bay's natural splendor. Key environmental initiatives include planting native flora to bolster marine ecosystems, notably for sea turtles, and incorporating agroforestry techniques to foster soil health and reforestation. The resort plans to cultivate an edible forest to attract pollinators and native wildlife, alongside providing educational workshops and conservation training for the local community. These endeavors are in direct alignment with the United Nations 2050 Sustainability Goals, striving to cultivate a more resilient and biologically diverse coastal destination. Roatan's accessibility has significantly improved with direct flights from major U.S. cities like Miami, Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta, offered by leading carriers such as American Airlines, United, and Delta. The island's Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB) is conveniently located a short drive from the Turtling Bay site, positioning the new Margaritaville resort as an easily reachable haven for travelers from the United States.

The development of the Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatan represents more than just a new luxury destination; it embodies a forward-thinking approach to tourism that prioritizes environmental stewardship and community engagement. By integrating sustainable practices and offering a unique blend of amenities and experiences, this resort sets a new standard for responsible development in the Caribbean. It showcases how economic growth can harmonize with ecological preservation, inviting guests to not only enjoy the beauty of Roatan but also contribute to its enduring vitality and well-being. This initiative exemplifies a commitment to fostering a brighter, more sustainable future for both travelers and the cherished natural environments they visit.
