Beginning November 2025, MSC Cruises, a prominent Swiss-Italian cruise operator, will establish its presence in Galveston, Texas. This expansion marks an exciting convergence of its distinguished Mediterranean ambiance with the unmistakable spirit of Texas. The MSC Seascape, the fleet's premier vessel, is set to be transformed into a dynamic celebration of Texan culture and Southern comfort, promising passengers a unique fusion of experiences. This initiative is designed to offer an unforgettable journey, where European elegance meets American heartland charm, creating a distinctive cruising adventure for all aboard.
The MSC Seascape, recognized as the top choice for family cruises by Forbes, is perfectly equipped for travelers of every age. Guests can explore a diverse array of 15 dining establishments, many infused with Texan culinary delights, and choose from 19 bars to enjoy a refreshing spicy margarita. Younger passengers will delight in the Pirates Cove AquaPark and dedicated clubs for children and teens. For thrill-seekers, the Robotron, a colossal mechanical arm, offers breathtaking 360-degree ocean panoramas from 174 feet above the sea. For those seeking an elevated experience, the MSC Yacht Club provides an exclusive retreat. Lauded by Cruise Critic as the 'Best Suite Complex' and by The Points Guy as the 'Best VIP Ship Within a Ship,' this luxurious area offers round-the-clock butler service and private keycard access to bespoke amenities, including a dedicated restaurant, lounge, sundeck, and pool, ensuring unparalleled privacy and personalized attention.
MSC Cruises has meticulously incorporated Texan passions into its onboard offerings, particularly in culinary and entertainment aspects. A sports bar designed to resemble a football, complete with private TV booths, ensures fans can enthusiastically support their favorite teams. The culinary team meticulously explored Texas to craft a menu featuring local flavors, offering dishes like huevos rancheros and chicken and waffles for breakfast, alongside roasted Texas-style prime rib and buttermilk mashed potatoes for lunch and dinner. Guests can also savor Italian, Caribbean, or Texan smoked beef brisket with jalapeño BBQ sauce. The entertainment program, known as the "boot-scooting" lineup, showcases live country music, line dancing lessons, and themed parties that embody Texas's lively character, complementing the popular Broadway-style performances and adding fresh, engaging elements.
Starting in November 2025, the MSC Seascape will embark on year-round five- and seven-day voyages to the Western Caribbean, with prices beginning at $349 per person for double occupancy. These itineraries will include stops at enchanting destinations like Cozumel, Mexico, and Roatán, Honduras. Tailored for residents of the Southern states, these cruises offer a convenient drive-to option, eliminating the need for expensive flights. Galveston, celebrated as one of America's most charming beach towns, is poised to become the fourth most popular cruise home port in the U.S., with an anticipated 2 million passengers by 2026. The new MSC terminal at Pier 16, a sprawling 165,000-square-foot facility, will feature a modern parking garage and offer seamless, white-glove service for MSC Yacht Club members, including a private check-in lounge. For those arriving by air, Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) provides shuttle, taxi, and rideshare options for domestic travelers, while George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is approximately 1.5 hours away for international arrivals. Guests are encouraged to extend their stay in Galveston for a few days to fully immerse themselves in the vacation spirit before their cruise begins.
