Breeze Airways Expands to Caribbean and Mexico with New Nonstop Routes

2025-10-14

A new development in leisure air travel is unfolding as Breeze Airways, a rising American carrier, makes its debut in the Caribbean. Having recently achieved certification as a U.S. Flag Carrier from the FAA—a distinction not granted to any airline in over a decade—Breeze is now cleared to introduce its inaugural international routes. These new services will include seasonal flights to popular destinations such as Cancun, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay, commencing this winter, pending governmental approvals. To facilitate this significant expansion, the airline is also establishing a new operational base in Raleigh-Durham.

This marks a pivotal moment for Breeze Airways, particularly for travelers in cities like Charleston, Norfolk, and Providence, who will benefit from enhanced access to Caribbean getaways. The airline's founder and CEO, David Neeleman, emphasized the rigorous effort of his team in reaching this achievement, expressing enthusiasm for extending the convenience and high-quality experience of their domestic flights to these three exciting international locations. Beginning in early 2026, Breeze will initiate direct seasonal services from six U.S. airports, connecting them to Cancun in Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Montego Bay in Jamaica.

Specifically, flights from Charleston, New Orleans, Norfolk, and Providence will offer Saturday service to Cancun. Raleigh will see new bi-weekly flights to Montego Bay and Punta Cana, while Tampa will feature new Wednesday and Saturday services to Montego Bay. These introductory fares are remarkably competitive, starting as low as $99 for a one-way trip. Breeze's entry into the Caribbean market signifies a new phase for an airline that has carved out a niche by providing direct connections from mid-sized cities often underserved by direct leisure routes. This strategic move positions Breeze to contend in a highly sought-after travel region, augmenting air travel options to destinations currently experiencing unprecedented tourist numbers. The flag carrier certification not only facilitates its initial international foray but also paves the way for further expansion into more Caribbean routes in upcoming seasons. For many travelers, this translates into simpler, direct journeys to idyllic beaches and azure waters, bypassing the inconvenience of layovers.

Breeze Airways' strategic expansion into the Caribbean and Mexican markets represents a forward-thinking approach to modern air travel, underscoring the growing demand for convenient and direct international routes. This development not only provides travelers with greater accessibility to beloved vacation spots but also fosters healthy competition within the aviation industry, ultimately benefiting consumers. It reflects a positive trend where innovation in services can significantly enhance global connectivity and enrich personal experiences through travel.
